A Day with the Alaska Specialty Woods Inc crew We at Alaska Specialty Woods do a lot of different tasks to complete our one job, that is to produce the finest soundboard products in the world.

Earthone Soundboards, from 100% Salvage sourced Old Growth Sitka Spruce, and Cedars, Native and growing in the forest around us. Trees that AVERAGE over 400 Years old.

Here we present a 6-minute video overview showing:

  • Prospecting for materials in the forest
  • Acquisition and handling of our raw materials (Logs) both on land and on water
  • Breaking down logs by dissecting them into re-sawable blocks
  • Sawing blocks into the different soundboard products
  • Stickering and drying of all the Earthtone Soundboard Products
  • The finishing process with a wide belt sander
  • Sorting, grading and putting them into inventory
  • Order fulfillment and shipping the product to 1000’s of satisfied customers in over 80 countries around the world

  3. Great video. As a helicopter mechanic after military my aviation career started in the Tongass logging with a helicopter on POW island. I miss it there in Southeast Alaska and enjoyed your video that brought back memories of long hours and hard work but one of the best times of my life. That was 30 years ago.
