Ultimately, we know that a guitar, acoustic or classical, is only as good as the wood it’s made from. The rich tones and sounds produced by a quality wood are irreplaceable. But, let’s face it, some people are all about the visuals. Truthfully, we think wood is the most naturally attractive material a guitar can be crafted from. However, recently we’ve come across some strange guitars, electric, bass and acoustic, that are anything but classic representations of this timeless instrument.
American guitarist, songwriter, and producer, Steve Vai, has designed quite a variety of guitars over the course of his impressive career. Similarly, Ed Roman Guitars in Las Vegas has an entire line dedicated to imaginative, “abstract” guitars. While we might just stick to the classic guitars our tonewood helps create, we can still marvel at the originality of these mean machines, right?
