Description
Discover the unparalleled beauty and acoustic excellence of our 1 Piece High Grade Sitka Spruce Dreadnought Guitar Top. This extraordinary tonewood invites luthiers to craft instruments with a soul as profound as its history. Sourced from a magnificent Sitka Spruce tree over 400 years old, this premium single-piece top is perfectly sized to create a full dreadnought guitar soundboard without needing additional wings, offering both structural integrity and aesthetic purity.
Our exceptional offering features one single VG (Vertical Grain) cut board of old-growth Sitka Spruce, harvested from a very large tree over 400 years old. All of that tree’s history is recorded in the displayed growth lines, allowing you to build your history guitar and show your friends when significant historical events occurred during the past 500 years—from when Christopher Columbus left Spain to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. These boards represent the highest quality available. One cannot grade 16″ wide boards using the same standards applied to narrower 8″ boards. We cut as wide as possible from what the log yields by its radius. Only trees with fine texture from sapwood to heart are selected for this product. Most trees develop very wide grain in the heartwood with quarter-inch or wider growth rings, which is typical for spruce. Since Sitka Spruce is not shade-tolerant and requires substantial sunlight to thrive, old-growth forest canopies typically prevent spruce from establishing unless a clearing event or blow-down of neighboring trees creates an opening. Yet over the years, the majestic Sitka Spruce occasionally becomes established and shoots its branches toward the canopy, towering above all other tree species.
This single-piece board patterns a complete dreadnought guitar top without requiring wings for lower bout extremities. Dimensions: 22+ x 16″ x .180″ +/-
Enhanced Acoustic Resonance and Timeless Tone
This premium Sitka Spruce Dreadnought Guitar top offers exceptional acoustic properties that define modern guitar craftsmanship. The old-growth timber, naturally seasoned for over four centuries, exhibits an outstanding stiffness-to-weight ratio, which translates directly into superior projection, dynamic range, and rich tonal complexity for your instrument. Unlike younger, plantation-grown alternatives, the natural aging process of this majestic Sitka Spruce soundboard has cultivated wood fibers with profoundly enhanced resonant qualities, delivering an unmatched clarity and sustain that will make your dreadnought sing with remarkable voice and character.
