These rare tops are produced with the finest tonewood fiber in the world. Procured from salvage sourced old-growth Sitka Spruce.
After decades floating a house in a remote floating logging camp, The house was moved to land and the log float salvaged. These boards cut from a floatlog in the vicinity of a 12″ long spike, that permeated the surrounding fiber with iron. The result is this oxidized blue board. Out of thousands of tops cut from these logs, only a few have the stain for the full length and width of both boards. They are blue throughout the board. The sugars of the wood has become crystalline and extra mineral added…. Could it sound better with this extra metallic element added to the fiber? I`m not a Luthier. But you are!
Dreadnaught – Most 2 pc bookset boards are cut 8.5+” x 23 but may or not pattern all of the width and length. These tops will pattern [per half] Lower bout 8”, waist 5.25 , upper bout 5.75” x 19.75-20” inches long which is the range of the 4 dreadnought gtr patterns we have to go by. If your measurements crowd these dimensions, it would be wise to let us know what your doing in the comments box of the order, during checkout; or best, contact us before ordering.

There has been no detrimental effects to the woods tonal or structrural properties. In fact any of the aged wood fiber we have has been subjected to either continual drenching by the 10 feet of rain that falls from the clouds each yr in our rain forest or is floating in the ocean waters of our protected bays and inlets. This is good. It keeps the wood from degrading effects of the sun and heat that would cause the wood to rot onto duff. Seasoned in the round wet. Dries much easier and with more stability than green cut timber.
